Chinati Hot Springs Resort

Recently I traveled to the western part of Texas with some of my sweet friends in the Taylor Artist Guild. (The purpose of our adventure was to sketch, paint, create and inspire one another.  Which we indeed achieved! )
We drove west through Alpine and Marfa and then south through Pinto Canyon, the Cuesta del Burro and Chinati Mountains to a very remote part of the state near the Mexican border. Above you will see a view of the resort as the sunrises behind the camera. The hazy mountain range in the distance is in Mexico...about 7 miles away.
Here you see a pic of a rusted out old truck that was abandoned in the desert.
We encountered it on our way down the 45 minute stretch of gravel road from Marfa.  Rusty truck, plus 5 artists, equals a photo op in the making!
This lovely spring fed hot tub awaited the weary artists.  The healing waters of the hot springs are said to contain minerals that include lithium! Yay!  It's no wonder we were happy the entire time we were at this magical oasis!

OK...I guess you are wondering what in the heck this is a photo!  But, you guessed right...the dump pile tumbling into a ravine and dating back from probably the 1970's.  Earlier refuse from the resort was hauled away.  But this mixed media artist still found several great things to use in my creations!
More on Marfa and the desert to come!  Have a great weekend!
